Bio - Vanessa Gaidoni

I am an experienced, fully-qualified teacher of the viola and violin, based in Hitchin Hertfordshire.

I am friendly and patient, enthusiastically sharing my love of music with each student in a nurturing fun way, whilst striving to create a solid foundation from which they can grow on their musical journey.

I started to play the violin at the age of eight. At thirteen I took up the viola and attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department, studying with Amanda Denley. I was then awarded a full scholarship to attend the Purcell School of Music in Harrow. From there I went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where my professor was Roger Best.

I was also lucky enough to receive coaching from many prominent violinists, violists and musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Yfrah Neaman, Sydney Griller, Manny Hurwitz, Emanuel Vardi, Simon Fischer, Rodney Friend and Paul Berkowitz.

I graduated in 1994 with diplomas in both performing and teaching. I then freelanced as a violist in and around London and participated in recordings for television and feature-length film scores.

My passion for teaching came later, after having children. I realised how privileged I had been in my musical education and how exciting it would be to share this rewarding experience with others.
