​Based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, Vanessa Gaidoni is an experienced and dedicated viola teacher who is passionate about nurturing young musicians and fostering a lifelong love of music. Teaching from her private studio, she has helped many students grow into confident, thoughtful musicians, with several going on to receive scholarships and places at leading institutions including the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford.

 

Her pupils regularly take part in inspiring musical organisations such as the National Youth Orchestra, National Children’s Orchestra, Aldeburgh Young Musicians, National Youth String Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia Academy, Pro Corda, and Arpeggione, gaining valuable ensemble and performance experience along the way.

 

Alongside her private teaching, Vanessa is a viola coach for the National Youth String Orchestra and Coordinator of the British Viola Society Young Violists, supporting the development of talented young violists across the country. She is also the viola tutor for the Benslow Late Starters programme.

 

Vanessa began her own musical training at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama before being awarded a full scholarship to study at the Purcell School. She later continued her studies at the Royal College of Music, where she studied with the distinguished violist Roger Best.

 

During her studies, she was fortunate to receive coaching and inspiration from many distinguished musicians, including Yehudi Menuhin, Yfrah Neaman, Sydney Griller, Manny Hurwitz, Emanuel Vardi, Simon Fischer, Rodney Friend, and Paul Berkowitz.

 

She graduated from the Royal College of Music with diplomas in both performance and teaching. After working as a freelance violist in and around London, including performances and recording work for television and film scores, Vanessa discovered that her true passion lay in teaching, guiding young musicians, and helping them flourish.
